Kelly Love is the creative
source of her self named label. At twenty – two Kelly packed
her bags and moved independently to Osaka Japan. It was here in a
tiny photography studio
that the idea of a clothing line originated whilst helping a Japanese
Fashion Designer to launch his own label. A few tricks of the trade
were learnt, a bit of money was saved and a few sketches were produced
and finally on the roof of that same Japanese apartment block with
a red wine in hand, Kelly Love realised that if you want something
badly enough then why not just do it!
Kelly was further inspired by traveling to India,
Thailand and Vietnam where she visited beading factories and fabric
warehouses. “The
craftsmanship of these countries is just incredible. Such patience
and precision is used to create the beautiful fabrics that I am drawn
to-this made me appreciate how important fine tailoring and intricate
detail is when creating a label that will stand out in such a competitive
industry.”
After her travels Kelly returned to Sydney to study Fashion Design
at KVB Institute of Technology in North Sydney. After completing her
degree and gaining valuable work experience with the likes of Akira
Isogawa, Charlie Brown, Princess Charlotte and Hussy clothing and accessories
she landed a job in production whist maintaining her own label on the
side.
“Kelly Love” is a collection of vintage glam ready to
wear pieces. It is a fusion of unique quality fabrics, simple lines
and quirky detail. Aside from the fact that this label is for women,
the style of “Kelly Love” can not be cornered into a particular
genre - Kelly believes that clothing should make women feel beautiful
regardless of shape or age. “When you put on clothing that makes
you feel comfortable in your own skin you feel fabulous!” This
belief is evident as the label caters to women of various style, age
and body shape. This allows the owner to go their own way because really,
who are the designers to tell people how to dress!
“Kelly Love” has featured in fashion magazines including “3D
World” and “Fashion Journal”.
