Jewellery Designer (Adelaide SA)

I graduated in 1995 with a Bachelor of Arts in Jewellery Design from the University of South Australia. From there onwards my interest in the art of jewellery design grew from the unlimited scope that designing can offer. My designs are inspired by natural forms and colour.

I enjoy seeing a design evolve and transform into an object that presents itself as something that generates tactile and visual stimulation. It is also about creating an object that becomes a part of your life and is with you always throughout your lifetime evoking memories and thoughts.

As a jewellery designer the satisfaction of designing a piece that may capture the essence of someone’s character is immensely satisfying.

Designing jewellery from the initial thought process, obtaining the materials through to the final end result takes time, dedication and energy. As a designer I think it is well worth the effort in creating something that is unique and can become the next inspirational concept for a new design.

I have surrounded myself with colour and this is strongly reflected in my work. I have a passion for working with coloured metals such as titanium and tantalum and I am fascinated by the way colour can be utilised to bring a piece to life. Combining textures, metals, stones and other materials I feel is one of trial and error. I think this aids in the jewellery design process in which you experiment with different ways in which a piece can be constructed. New techniques can also be discovered in this experimental stage which can open up new avenues of design.
