Naked
With Joy - An Olympic Art Prize
All
artists are invited to submit work to Naked With Joy, a forthcoming
community art exhibition organised by Deffo Publishing to commemorate
the bold and beautiful carnival that was Sydney in the 2000 Olympics.
Scheduled
to coincide with the 2004 Athens Olympics, Naked With Joy’s
aim is to promote original, exciting, confrontational retellings
of the Sydney Olympic myth.
“Anyone
who was in Sydney for the 2000 Olympics will recall how it was
above all a community event — an event that brought people
together,” says exhibition organiser James Kemp. “And
that’s exactly what we’re doing with Naked With Joy.
We hope to elicit entries from as broad a section of the community
as possible, and reunite those disparate worlds that were united
by the Sydney Olympics.”
Naked
With Joy will run from 14th - 22nd August 2004
at the TAP Gallery in Darlinghurst. The deadline
for submission of concepts is 1st June. In order
to spark artists’ imaginations, Deffo Publishing
is offering a $700 “gold medal” prize
to the creator of the most inspiring artwork.
